The story
Bë.Root
My name is Vanessa Daher. I am an architect, designer, and brand and business innovation strategist.
I am so happy that you're interested in knowing the story behind Bë.Root.
This platform is the result of the generous and amazing collaboration between local recipe creators, brands, producers, and SMES that are passionate about a healthier community.
The journey began in 2015 - when after years of health struggles and disappointing medical experiences, I discovered that I had food allergies and intolerances. My journey of self-discovery and self-understanding began when I realised the crucial connection between what goes into our mouth and our physical and mental health. Unfortunately, at that time, I struggled with switching to this lifestyle, especially since I am someone who loves food.
Through this platform, Bë.Root, I aim to bring together the existing community of recipe creators, local producers, SMEs and shops to make a difference in people's lives by making their journey towards health(ier) lifestyles an easier one.
You may have noticed by now the recurrent of the term health(ier) and that is because, in this aspect, there is no one-size-fits-all approach and what works for someone could be completely harmful for someone else. Therefore, this transition falls under switching towards a healthier lifestyle to the one you were used to - one that is free from GMOs, additives, and processed ingredients.
Here you will find recipes that are easy to make, fit our Mediterranean culture and traditions, made using ingredients that are easy to find - and most importantly created by individuals who care. You will also be able to make them using fresh local ingredients* that are made with love by the amazing people of our beautiful community.
The name Bë.Root expresses my love for my country. In fact, after years of living abroad, I decided to come back to the beautiful Beirut, 'be in my roots' and help others 'go back to their roots' by eating food that fuels and nourishes their bodies.
*Imported products are listed when no local alternative is available. This will allow individuals to explore their options and get creative with what is offered locally.
